Today, members of the club took the first steps toward the revitalization of the club’s kitchen by removing the old in preparation for the new. When you next visit the club, you will immediately note that the kitchen has been removed. Beverage and food services have been temporarily been relocated to into the main room while construction is underway.
As you know, the club is working toward a commercial kitchen that will meet the rules and regulations of the Anne Arundel County Health Department. This will provide for a full service kitchen that will be available to members and to their guests as they take advantage of the beautiful venue that the club offers. Work began in earnest this Friday, June 07, 2013 with the demolition of the existing kitchen by club members in preparation for work by One Source Construction, headed by Todd Lawrence. Work by One Source will begin Monday, June 10th, and contingent upon the step-by-step inspection procedures by Anne Arundel County, will be completed by the end of July.
While construction is in progress, club services and facilities will be available for use although access may be restricted to the side or back entrances as work progresses. The construction period is likely to require revised operations that will be put into effect as required. In any case, all efforts will be made to minimize impacts on Friday and weekend activities and to make club facilities available to members throughout the construction period. Please excuse the materials that have been stored around the club house which provides access to materials that will be needed for the new kitchen or for restoration of the bar and associated support facilities.
Thank you for your understanding of the inconveniences that may occur. We will make every effort to complete the construction as soon as possible so that in the end we have a facility that can better support the more leisurely aspects of our sailing community.
A special thanks goes to Erick Chiang and his crew who worked today to remove the old kitchen. Their efforts saved the Club several thousand dollars and is deeply appreciated.

West River Sailing Club in Galesville, Maryland will hold its annual One-Design Open House on June 15th from 1pm to 4pm.
The Club One-Design Boats will be on display, and information will be available on club activities, including racing, cruising, adult and junior sailing classes, and the Shared Boat Program. Light refreshments will be available. There will also be opportunities to get on the water (weather-permitting). The fun continues with our partner event, Rhythm on the River at Hartge's Yacht Harbor.
