Junior Racing Program
| For sailors with a desire to compete, West River offers them the opportunity to join our Junior Racing team. Readiness for the racing team is at the discretion of the Director and Head Instructor. Our racing program relies heavily on volunteer parents and we encourage your participation whether it be driving sailors or boats to a regatta, supervising rigging and boat launching, helping to load/unload boats, or simply being available for hands-on needs and support. Every parent of a racer is expected to volunteer for at least one regatta. Regatta participation will be dependent upon parent volunteer participation. |

| Expanding on our mission, as a Corinthian sport, we teach our young racers to: |
- support, help and encourage each other;
- always give your best and never give up; set goals and challenge yourself;
- congratulate each other on individual achievements and to celebrate each others successes;
- turn back to help someone if they are in trouble, regardless of your standing in the race;
- be courteous to fellow teammates & competitors, club guests, to the host club and always thank the race committee;
- be respectful – of the instructors, coaches and parent volunteers, other sailors, the club’s equipment and property;
- always represent yourself -- as an individual and as a club member -- with the utmost integrity.
- have fun and enjoy the opportunity.
