Laser Racing at WRSC

2007

The Laser is a single-handed, strict one-design and Olympic class that is sailed enthusiasically all over the world by young and old, novice and expert alike. The Laser offers the unique combination of exciting sailing, simple rig, portability, and highly competitive fleets. It offers three configurations to accomodate varying conditions, sailor weight and sailor ability. The Standard rig is the largest sail at 76 sq. ft., the Radial at 61 sq.ft and the 4.7 at 50 sq. ft. Each rig only requires a different lower mast section and sail. Many adult sailors will switch between the Standard and Radial rigs depending on wind conditions throughout the year. A great boat you can learn in and never outgrow. More information can be found at www.nalaser.org.

Friday Evening Racing: Starts May 4th and continues through September 28th. Non-members welcome for a registration fee. Please see the NOR for details. First warning is at 6:00 pm, with short courses raced as long as conditions and daylight permit, with three minute starts. The summer is divided into three series of five nights each, with a team racing mini-series to cap off the summer.
Series 1: May 4, May 11, May 18, May 25, and June 1.
Series 2: June 8, June 15, June 22, June 29, and July 6.
Series 3: July 13, July 20, July 27, August 3 and August 10.
Team Racing Series: August 17, August 24.
Awards night to be scheduled in September.

Friday Night Series Results

Order your dinner before the races and enjoy with other sailors afterwards. A very relaxed and educational atmosphere, this is a great venue to come get acquainted with the Laser and to get some good boat-handling practice in. If you love sailing and/or racing but have never sailed a Laser and would like to check it out, please contact me and we'll schedule a boat for a Friday evening. Trust me, you'll be hooked!
