FD UK Travellers Trophy 1997

Hugh Myers and Gordon Kingston (GBR 356 and then 374) collected the Travellers Trophy again at Rutland. They were, of course, in a very strong position before that weekend having won all three other TT events. However, with all four Opens to count, they could not afford to make too many mistakes. They made plenty, but not enough for Peter Doran and Richard Phillips (GBR 377) to catch them, even though they did have their best weekend yet.

John Best and James Cole (GBR 378) paid for their misfortunes at the beginning of the season, finishing third this year.

These three were the only boats to do all four events. This is the second year that four out of four have been counted due to an anticipated event being cancelled. However, this year the top 9 places would have been the same if a discard had been allowed. Perhaps it is just the practice that gets the leading boats up there!
