James Pleasance to lead Octagon European Sailing Division
Octagon, a leading global sports marketing agency, announced today the hiring of James Pleasance as Sales Director. Pleasance will lead Octagon's sailing property representation efforts in Europe with his primary role selling sponsorships for the Swedish Match Tour, the world's leading professional sailing series, and new business development for the growing sailing division.
Octagon has become the leading sports marketing company in the sport of sailing representing several premier properties including the Swedish Match Tour, Acura SORC, Bermuda Gold Cup, Gorge Games and Around Alone. Additionally, Octagon operates team-building corporate sailing outings for several Fortune 500 clients.
Pleasance comes to Octagon with more than 10 years experience in the marine industry, including roles in marketing, public relations and sponsorship management with a special focus on global yachting events and marine-related companies and products.

Most recently, Pleasance served as sponsorship/new business development manager and head of public relations at The Strategic Organisation, an international sports marketing agency based in London. Pleasance's responsibilities included procurement of sponsors for yachting events and account management of marine-based advertising and PR accounts. In 2001, he acted as publisher of the official program of the America's Cup Jubilee event as well as serving as event coordinator at the Rolex Farr 40 World Championships in Cowes, England.
Pleasance will be based in London and report to Scott MacLeod, in Octagon's Stamford, CT, office.
