This photo was taken in Nov. 2007 during the Caribbean 1500, where we took first place in the IRC class. During the winter of '07/'08 we've been cruising south through the Leewards and the Windwards, currently in St. Lucia. In June '07 we participated in the Marion-Bermuda race, and cruised Nova Scotia in August/September. We're Northbound in May for Bermuda and Rhode Island.

8/13/12 - We are anchored very near the site of famous Houghton Pond ice house on New Meadows River. Just behind us you can still see the iron rings, set in granite, where the coasting schooners wharfed in thirty feet water adjacent to the embankment. My understanding is that this ice was shipped to Baltimore, Washington, Philadelphia and other east coast cities as late as the 1920s. This fresh water pond is less than 1000 feet from the river and about 50 feet above water level so all they had to do was sluice the ice down to the house and thence down onto the schooners. This is one of the few places along the coast where fresh ice source is located so close by. We have friends who live just about where the spreaders are. Best Sandy and Betsy Schmidt

jamescwilson at mac.com Update 1/02/2013: Set out from Annapolis in 2009, sailed through the Caribbean and then across the Pacific to New Zealand. Earlier this year we left N.Z. and sailed to New Caledonia, through Vanuatu, across the Coral Sea to the Torres Strait and then across the Indian Ocean. We are currently in South Africa

Blog: www.svceolmor.com Read about our adventures including an attempt to board Ceol Mor by refugees in the Indian Ocean!  I'd also love feedback from any other J42's out there, and some folks might be interested in aspects of our trip.
