Yes Alverbank Sails Ltd. has now shut up shop.

Quote
Dear All

I am sorry to announce that Alverbank Sails has
ceased trading due to both economic reasons and problems with the tenure of our
lease.
I am approaching 65 and have decided to back
out.
I must thank everybody for their support over years
and will miss the gossip when cutomers come in for a chat.

Stuart who has worked with for this year will start
up in his own name and will hopefully be able to offer the same services will be
contactable on 07855 946527

Kevan Bloor
Alverbank Sails Ltd

On the positive side of things, I am opening up a new sail loft should be ready to start work by monday. Kevan has promised to continue working with me to help me develop new sails and designs.

It will either be called Alverbanks or Hopson Sails. Getting some advice about it tomorrow. Should be ready in time to start making sails next week.

Good Luck with your new business. If you can provide service levels anywhere near this century I'm sure you will clean up.

Are you staying at the same loft address? Or moving, will you have wheels?

Frankly I am quite fed up with Dick Batt not getting on with things ( which is why I didn't go to him in the first place ) so if you can come close to what he is doing in terms of price and sail design, and actually 'make some sails' instead of flying around the world and telling me you'll do it tomorrow. You could have a Main and Jib from me. I can't believe getting some sails that fit can be this difficult! It's enough to make you want to sail a F****** SMOD!  (Flipping) - before anyone gets grumpy)

As you can tell I'm slightly feed up of the sailing industry ( industry? More like joke-less comedy show, compared by a Camel Haired coat wearing ex second hand car dealer that does a line in knock off DVD's ).

Apologies for rant.

IMHO it depends on whether you think the reputation that Alverbank sails has is more likely to attract customers or put them off compared with a new brand.  Try not to let personal feelings affect what needs to be a commercial decision. All the best Paul
