VAC Bagging tubes

As there appears to be a lot replies on this I thought I'd start a complete thread on the subect. At BGM we are using the following method.

1) Accept the tube is a 2 hit process. Hoop fibers in the outside of the layup wrinkle when the item consolidates. Unis distribute and therefore do not wrinkle. Apply the base layer of weave at +/-45 using 100mm strips of weave wrapped in a helix, these can be consolidated easily.

2) Consolidate each layer in turn (i.e. strangle the b&stard often, but careful not to warp the unis)

3) Wrap using 100mm wide peel ply, again as a helix as tight as possible, 50% + overlap preferable. Ensure carbon and tape are wrapped in the same orientation (i.e. clockwise form tip).

4) After peel ply add layer of breather cloth and then use the thinnest plastic available. Currently B&Q dust sheet (1.25 per sheet) is the preferred stuff. This also has the advantage of self sealing, so the consumable is just the dust sheet and the breather (no tacki tape).

5) For the outer weave layer we chase the weave up the pole with the peel ply. Covering 5-6inches at a time.

I can confirm our poles do not come out with any standing seams along them and appear to make the correct noises. The breather has resin in it and the peel ply is nicely saturated. Once I have finished the latest items I'll post some piccies.
