The one sailing event not to be missed in 2012 is the 50th Lord Birkett. This historic event will be launched with a big reception on the evening of Friday 6 July  and there will be a number of other special surprises during the weekend.

All boats, from the smallest dinghies to high performance racing machines and cruisers, race from one spectacular mass start with the line stretching across the full width of the lake. They race down the lake, a distance of about seven miles, past Birkett Crag and the plaque to the memory of Lord Birkett who made the decision to stop the lake becoming a reservoir, round an island at the southern end, and back. Then they do it all again on Sunday – with both races to count.

KKT Racing will be there in the lean green racing machine. We'd love to see some of our Cherub buddies!

I've pencilled this in. Always fancied doing this as have been to the lake to deliver a boat and it looks spectacular!
