Mind blowing. So the hydrofoil is used to pull the drone back under the water. Pilot is pulled down by drone and up by kite?

Can't wait to see what happens to the guy flying when the drone catches a crab pot .........

Yes. i was looking for the patent to find a diagram. the water part looks like it is controlled by one line only.

Very cool!
If you attach the drone to a leg and the kite is pulling from the arms it will be the water based equivelent of rack.
So what other medival tortures can we turn into watersports?
The Iron Maiden may not lend itself so well.

I've certainly heard people thinking about this and seen sketches: not sure if its been actually sailed before or not. IIRC the foil in the water gets called a hapa for some reason. If the hapa launches itself out of the water on a wave or something I imagine things get very exciting as I suspect you'd be going very fast both downwind and vertically upwards before you got back under control.
