1950s and 1960s Designs
Spencer Modified Mk2 design. One of the
most common designs of the late 1950s, and temporarily used as
a one design when the first Cherubs were built in the UK.

John Spencer's Mk 7 design was built in considerable
numbers both in the UK and New Zealand.

Russell Bowler's Jennifer Julian was the
definitive deep V Cherub design, and winner of the first Worlds
in 1970.

Thanks to Russell Bowler of Farr Associates for making original
drawings available to assist in preparing this sketch. Plans would
be available from Farr Yacht Design by arrangement.
1970s Designs
The Forman 4 was the first deep V design
in the UK and was the dominant design during the early to mid
1970s.

Bruce Farr designed Cherubs were also rigged
as Q Class (12' skiffs) and successful in both guises. Considerable
development from the deep V design of only a few years previously
are evident. This is almost certainly a Farr mk. 2.

Drawings & Construction Plans for this design (Farr Design
#48) are commercially available from Farr Yacht Design Ltd. . The name Farr is owned
by Farr Yacht Design and registered in the United States and other
countries throughout the World. Should you wish to build a "traditional"
wood Cherub then these are probably the best construction details
available.
