Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy will be hosting the nationals
for us, we are lucky to be sharing the venue with the International
Moth European championships and this has allowed us to negotiate
a full weeks racing on windward leeward courses.
Weymouth has always been a popular location for Cherubs and over
recent years has gained a reputation for being the ultimate skiff
venue in the UK. As if that wasn't enough the area does have all
sorts to entertain the sailing widowers and widows.
On the social side of things we will be having a few relaxed like bar-be-ques on the beach again shared with the moths and maybe a bowling night if people are interested. At the end of the week we will be having a proper prize giving.
So how much is it going to cost? Well this year we are offering a discount for entering early. If you enter before 31st May you get £20 off the entry fee which is £130 which is great value for a full week sailing at one of the best venues in the Country and includes socials. If your serious about coming please let me know as soon as possible because it makes it so much easier to plan the scale of social events and better still get your cheque book out TODAY and enter.
If you cant make get a whole week off work, then you can enter for a number of days, this will be £26 per day again pre book.
The main silverware is of course for the scratch racing, but there will also be glassware and a new perpetual trophy for the handicap competition. This uses class assoiation adjusted handicaps which mean that no matter how old you boat is, if its sailed well you'll be right in the running to take home something shiny. We'll also be running various subsidiary prizes aimed at all levels of fleet so everyone has something to race for. Whether you're old, your boats old, or you've never been before there will be something you can be in the running for, including a Prix de concours (Sexy Cherub prize) a new trophy for the best presented Cherub at the Nationals (not the newest but the nicest) and of course the legendary Ashes Trophy and the Didgeredon't for those whose event doesn't quite go as planned:-)
May 15th-16th we will be off to Queen Mary for the Inlands. This promises to be a fantastic event at a high profile club. Be there..
We are organising a couple of events for both newcomers and
more experienced crews in fact anyone interested is more very
welcome. The first will be at Stokes Bay Sailing Club on the 3rd
April followed by an inland later in the year.
Cherub Legends like Dave Roe, Gavin Sims and Simon Goodwin will
be on hand at the events to give you tips on boat handling, tuning
advice, anything cherub related
